The physiology of muscle growth and health is a dynamic process over a man's life span. Adult men often achieve a certain physiologic equilibrium but with punctuated periods of faster aging and health decline. Rapid aging and health decline can be triggered by intrinsic disease and/or extrinsic injury. These periods also coincide with milestone markers of middle age (40s) and retirement (60s). In addition to the basic core components of diet, sleep, exercise, and stress reduction; a muscle strengthening program can attenuate the severity of these periods of health decline.
